About the role

Our Platform group is a core team in the R&D, and plays key function in product development and delivery. As a Platform Engineering Manager, you are responsible for overseeing a team of SW & DevOps engineers who are responsible for building and maintaining the technology platforms that power Orca Security. Your role is to ensure that your team is aligned with Orca’s strategic goals and that they are delivering high-quality and reliable tech solutions. You need to be highly organized and detail-oriented, as you will be responsible for setting and managing the team's budgets, timelines, and priorities. You will need to be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and have the ability to navigate complex technical challenges while maintaining a focus on delivering business value. In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping the technology landscape of our Platform Engineering group, and have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our success.

On a typical day you'll

  • Lead and manage a team of ambitious Software & DevOps Engineers responsible for developing cutting-edge internal dev. solutions.
  • Enhance the teams’ technical and personal skills, enabling them to develop amazing new infrastructure tools, applications and frameworks using constant feedback, weekly’s, learning & development days, and one-on-ones coaching sessions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to ensure that our internal development solutions meet R&D requirements and adhere to industry standards.
  • Serve as the group’s subject matter expert in integrating innovative dev tools, providing platform engineering guidance and recommendations to R&D internal teams and customers.
  • Participate in the development of our core platform and development productivity strategies, policies, and procedures, and guide the team to identify and execute on strategy and goals.

About You

  • Have experience managing a team of 5+ Software Engineers.
  • Hold a background in software engineering and possess the ability to effectively comprehend and assist the team during their discussions, decision-making processes, and implementation of complex technical choices.
  • Advanced programming languages experience including Python, Go, JS etc.
  • Have a strong commitment to both creating a high-achieving team with a thriving engineering culture and delivering a successful outcome for the product.
  • Knowledged and experienced with docker and containers orchestration (Kubernetes – Preferred ,Nomad).
  • Experienced with Infrastructure as code, deployments done using descriptive languages such as Ansible & Terraform (Preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge in GitOps such as ArgoCD, Atlantis, Github runners/actions, SonarQube, Mergify, Poetry.
  • Knowledged and experienced in SDLC and BuildSystem such as Bazel, Pants, Makefiles.
  • Monitoring tools – Prometheus/Graphite.
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills.
