Life at Orca Security revolves around the Pod – the people who have joined Orca’s mission to make the cloud a safer place for all. The ‘Pod Spotlight’ is a Q&A series dedicated to showcasing all of the amazing talent at Orca Security. In honor of Pride Month, we want to shed light on LGBTQ+ members of the Pod for their incredible contributions to the organization.
Today we’re spotlighting Omri Givoni, Director of R&D, working from the Tel Aviv, Israel office.
Why did you choose to work at Orca Security, and when did you join?
First and more importantly, the opportunity to work alongside highly talented professionals from my past companies was a huge driver for me. Being able to contribute to an exceptional product of a rapidly growing unicorn was no small consideration either. Finally, returning to the cybersecurity industry, where my passion is, further solidified my decision. Joining Orca Security a year ago has been an incredible journey so far, and I’m excited about the future possibilities and opportunities to contribute to the company’s mission of revolutionizing cloud security.
What advice do you have for people getting started in your field?
I’d suggest starting to seek opportunities at companies dealing with large scales of data, finding a manager-mentor who is a strong leader to guide you forward in your career, and focusing on learning best practices and foundations. By doing so, you’ll set yourself up for a fulfilling and prosperous journey. Remember to stay curious, embrace challenges, and be persistent in honing your skills. With dedication and the right guidance, you can excel in the dynamic world of cyber and contribute to shaping our increasingly data-driven society.
How has working at Orca Security challenged you to grow?
One of the most significant challenges I’ve encountered is working with massive amounts of data. Our innovative approach to cloud security involves scanning and analyzing data from various cloud environments. As a result, this means we ingest an enormous amount of data, which requires us to have efficient data processing and storage solutions. When you add in the even more exciting challenge of delivering exceptional and scalable products while also keeping our customers delighted in a fiercely competitive market, I’m continually able to grow professionally.
How has Orca supported you as a member of the LGBTQ+ community?
From creating a liberal and accepting culture, to hosting special events and guest lectures during Pride month, to engaging in special projects like this blog post, Orca demonstrates its commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where people feel valued and respected. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I’m grateful to be part of an organization that not only embraces diversity, but actively champions the rights and well-being of its LGBTQ+ members.
