Today we’re spotlighting George Mathew, Enterprise Account Executive working out of the Portland, OR office.
Why did you choose to work at Orca Security, and when did you join?
I joined Orca in November of 2020. I chose to work here because coming from a company that offered an agent-based solution, Orca did things differently. At my past company, the poor integration of different tools led to disappointing customer outcomes. Orca had a game-changing technology and platform that was built in the cloud, for the cloud, from the ground up. Coupled with amazing customer support, we provide a solution where we solve the problems of agent-based tools, and our growing customer base has been great validation. Being part of that and helping to push this company forward as one of the early employees has been a rewarding experience.
What advice do you have for people getting started in your field?
Take courses in cloud security, understand containerization, and keep educating yourself as though there is always someone smarter than you in the same field. Being able to hold your own in relaying both technical and business value adequately ensures that you’re fully equipped to close business.
How has working at Orca Security challenged you to grow?
Orca has always set high targets to meet, but I’ve been fully supported to ensure I feel confident to meet and exceed those targets. Orca has also supported my professional development; I started in Mid-Enterprise sales and am now an Enterprise Sales Rep. Wins are celebrated well at Orca Security and that challenges me to strive to be the best.

What’s the best thing about working within a team?
The best thing about working as a team is you feel that you can achieve higher milestones. As the saying goes, “I cannot boil the ocean.” Having team members who offer genuine care and provide guidance when I need it, and then also allowing me to mentor newer reps has ensured that when we win, we win as a team.
