Life at Orca Security revolves around the Pod – the people who have joined Orca’s mission to make the cloud a safer place for all. The ‘Pod Spotlight’ is a Q&A series dedicated to showcasing all of the amazing talent at Orca Security.
Today we’re spotlighting Boris Reznik, DevOps Engineer, working from the Tel Aviv office.
Why did you choose to work at Orca Security, and when did you join?
I chose to join Orca Security in April 2021 because I was impressed by the founders’ backgrounds (who had come from Check Point, where I previously worked as well). As I was already interested in cloud technology and sought a dynamic work environment, joining a company like Orca with its open culture and lack of bureaucracy was a perfect fit. I appreciated the opportunity to make a tangible impact and advance quickly within the organization, while also being able to explore and verify cutting-edge technologies related to the DevOps world.
What advice do you have for people getting started in your field?
For individuals getting started in the fields of cloud technology and security, my advice is to prioritize hands-on experiences and embrace new challenges. Don’t shy away from technological difficulties; instead, view them as opportunities for growth and learning. Engage with different cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and gain practical experience with tasks like infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform or automation scripting languages. This hands-on approach will deepen your understanding of cloud environments and security concepts, making you more adaptable and valuable in this fast-evolving field. Additionally, stay curious and be open to exploring emerging technologies and trends to stay ahead of the curve. Continuous learning and practical application will pave the way for a successful and fulfilling career in cloud technology and security.
How has working at Orca Security challenged you to grow?
Working at Orca Security has been a transformative growth experience, challenging me to learn and gain expertise across diverse cloud providers, which is something that is not always possible at other companies. The autonomy and trust given to me in this company setting allows me to design solutions from scratch and work on projects independently, nurturing my problem solving abilities and advancing my career significantly. Orca’s culture of embracing new challenges and promoting hands-on experience has fostered my professional development, equipping me with valuable skills and knowledge in ways that a more traditional work environment couldn’t match.

What’s the best thing about working within a team?
The best thing about working within a team is learning from others and sharing experiences, fostering personal growth, creativity, and achieving shared goals together.
